Google Analytics 4 Integration

Connect GA4 to import analytics and push AI traffic events

Import traffic

Overview

Reaudit's GA4 integration is a two-way bridge between your Google Analytics and AI visibility data:

Import Traffic Data

Pull sessions, users, page views, traffic sources, and geographic data from GA4 into Reaudit.

Push AI Events

Send AI referral visits and bot crawl events from Reaudit to GA4 so they appear in your standard reports.

AI Visibility Correlation

See how AI mentions and citations correlate with website traffic, content performance, and ROI.

Google Search Console

View organic search queries, clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position alongside AI visibility data.

Connect GA4

  1. Go to Reaudit Dashboard → Tools → Google Analytics 4
  2. Click “Connect Google Analytics 4”
  3. Sign in with your Google account that has GA4 access
  4. Select the GA4 property that matches your website
  5. Optionally enable Google Search Console access
  6. Click Connect
Reaudit uses OAuth 2.0 to securely connect to your Google account. We only request read access to analytics data and write access for pushing events.

After connecting, you'll see your Google account email, property name, measurement ID, and verification status in the dashboard.

Import Traffic Data

Once connected, Reaudit automatically imports the following data from GA4:

  • ✓Sessions & users over time
  • ✓Traffic sources breakdown (organic, direct, referral, social)
  • ✓Top landing pages by sessions and engagement
  • ✓Geographic distribution of visitors
  • ✓Device and browser breakdown

Data syncs automatically. Click “Refresh Status” or “View Analytics” in the dashboard to see the latest data.

Push AI Events to GA4

This is the most powerful part of the integration. Reaudit can push AI traffic events directly to your GA4 property, so you see AI referrals and bot crawls in your standard GA4 reports.

To set this up, you need three things: a Measurement ID, an API Secret, and to enable pushing in the settings.

Step 1: Get Your Measurement ID

  1. Open Google Analytics
  2. Go to Admin → Data Streams → Web
  3. Copy your Measurement ID (starts with G-)
  4. In Reaudit, click Settings on your GA4 connection and paste it

Step 2: Create a Measurement Protocol API Secret

  1. In Google Analytics, go to Admin → Data Streams → Your Stream
  2. Click “Measurement Protocol API secrets”
  3. Click “Create”
  4. Name it “Reaudit AI Events”
  5. Copy the secret value
  6. In Reaudit Settings, paste it in the API Secret field
The Measurement Protocol API Secret is different from a standard Google API key. It's specific to your GA4 data stream and allows server-to-server event sending.

Step 3: Enable AI Event Pushing

  1. In Reaudit, click Settings on your GA4 connection
  2. Under Sync Settings, enable:
  • ✓Push AI Referral Events — When visitors arrive from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, etc.
  • ✓Push Bot Crawl Events — When AI bots crawl your website

Step 4: View in GA4

Once configured, Reaudit automatically pushes events to GA4. You'll see them in:

  • →Reports → Engagement → Events — Look for ai_referral and ai_bot_crawl
  • →Explore — Create custom reports with AI traffic dimensions
  • →Audiences — Create segments of AI-referred visitors

Events Reference

Reaudit pushes two types of events to your GA4 property:

ai_referral

Fired when a visitor arrives from an AI search engine (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, etc.)

Parameters:

  • ai_source — Which AI sent the visitor
  • page_path — Landing page URL
ai_bot_crawl

Fired when an AI bot crawls your website (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, etc.)

Parameters:

  • bot_type — Which bot crawled
  • page_path — Crawled page URL

AI Visibility Correlation

With GA4 connected, Reaudit can correlate your AI visibility data with actual website traffic:

  • ✓AI mentions vs website traffic — See if mentions drive real visits
  • ✓AI referral quality metrics — Bounce rate, time on site, conversions from AI traffic
  • ✓Content performance matrix — Which content performs well in both AI and organic
  • ✓ROI attribution — Track revenue from AI-driven traffic

Google Search Console

Enable Search Console access when connecting GA4 to view organic search performance alongside AI visibility:

  • ✓Top search queries driving traffic to your site
  • ✓Clicks, impressions, and click-through rate (CTR)
  • ✓Average position tracking for your keywords
  • ✓Performance breakdown by country and device
Search Console access is optional. Enable it during GA4 connection setup or later in the Settings dialog. Your Google account must have Search Console access for the same property.

Troubleshooting

“No properties found”

  • Ensure your Google account has access to a GA4 property (not Universal Analytics)
  • Check that you're signing in with the correct Google account
  • Verify you have at least “Viewer” access on the GA4 property

Events not appearing in GA4

  • Verify the Measurement ID and API Secret are correctly configured
  • Events can take up to 24 hours to appear in standard GA4 reports
  • Check Admin → DebugView in GA4 for real-time event debugging
  • Ensure “Push AI Referral Events” is enabled in Reaudit settings

Search Console data not showing

  • GSC must be enabled during or after GA4 connection setup
  • Your Google account needs Search Console access for the same domain
  • GSC data can take 24-48 hours to first appear

Connection issues

  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Google account
  • Ensure third-party cookies are not blocked in your browser during OAuth
  • Check that your Google account is not restricted by organizational policies
